Yesterday

I floated on the waves
and a blade thrust,
ripped me from the sea,
smashed me to the rocks
and, steel-cold,
gutted me.

Today

the waves are singing
as you circle close to me,
but today I haunt
the bloodied shore,

today I fear the sea.
